South West region continues to provide kit for disadvantaged young people

March has seen both Cricket and Rugby clubs in the South West donate their unwanted sports kit to LV= SOS Kit Aid. The clubs, to which LV= SOS Kit Aid are very grateful, are:

- Bodmin RFC
- Weston Super Mare RFC
- Uphill Castle CC

2011 Update

LV= SOS Kit Aid is very grateful to the following schools, colleges and clubs in the South and South West for their very generous donations of cricket and rugby kit to LV= SOS Kit Aid during 2011 so far:

- Salisbury RFC

- North Bristol RFC

- Sir Bernard Lovell School

- King's College, Taunton

- Bath Rugby - Bath showed their ongoing support for the kit recycling scheme during both their kit collection and family fun day's, we truly value Bath Rugby's support.

Two major events have taken place in the South and South West with both Gloucestershire and Hampshire Cricket Club hosting regional Kit Aid day's.

Gloucestershire hosted the first ever regional Kit Aid day at the County Ground in Bristol, which included a personal kit donation from Gloucestershire CCC players and a special coaching session held for local youngsters, prior to Gloucestershire’s home fixture against Northamptonshire at the County Cricket Ground in Bristol. Over 30 pupils from Millpond Primary School, Easton, took part in cricket and rugby coaching before helping to sort 500kgs of donated kit.

The first regional Kit Aid day directly benefited the Bristol StreetGames initiative, which focuses on delivering sport in a fun, accessible, affordable and inclusive way to young people of all ages in areas of high deprivation in Central and East Bristol.

Hampshire CCC also hosted a regional Kit Aid day at the Rose Bowl. The action-packed day saw Hampshire Cricket and Warwickshire CCC players donating some of their own kit to LV= SOS Kit Aid before the third day of their LV= County Championship match. To encourage as many people as possible to donate kit, Hampshire Cricket offered free entry to anyone donating a piece of kit, while there were free cricket and rugby coaching sessions on the outfield for children from a local school.
