SOS's Richard Westaway and John Broadfoot recently visited Poland to see for themselves the development of junior rugby in Poland. Richard and John attended a junior rugby festival at which half the teams were wearing SOS rugby kit. It was Richard's first visit to see SOS's work at first hand and he was very impressed and came back fired up with even more enthusiasm if that's possible! John and Richard also had great pleasure in seeing a rampant Polish National Team put 30 points on the visiting Maltese National Team at a great rugby event staged in front of an enthusiatic local crowd of 3000+ in the rugby mad town of Siedlce near Warsaw. The Federation laid on a magnificent event with great half time entertainment with a marching band, a choir to sing the anthems, a battle re-enactment topped with a dancing display. Everyone had a magnificent time and the Federation were delighted with the team performance because in previous years the two teams have been very close. This was a very promising performance and bodes well for the future. SOS wishes them every success and thanks for a great rugby trip.
Junior player numbers are up and the Polish Rugby Federation under the guidance of President Jan Koslowski and Tomasz Kapustka - Development Manager are attempting to move rugby into new areas in Poland where currently the game is not played. Good luck to them - SOS will continue to support in any way that we can. President Jan Koslowski personally thanked Richard and John and all at SOS for the great support we have given them and that their junior expansion was greatly helped by SOS's maginificent kit donations and could we keep sending more!
POLISH RUGBY FEDERATION THANKS SOS!
Greg Borkowski - General Secretary of the Polish Rugby Federation sent SOS an email saying "Many children in Poland, especially in smaller clubs, are happy now because of the kit they have received from SOS. Everything is important to us - I hope the next delivery will be soon as possible!"
POLISH RUGBY FEDERATION HAPPY TO JOIN SOS!
Following a meeting with the President Jan Kozlowski and Gen Sec Gregorz Borkowski, SOS are now supplying kit to the Junior Section of the Polish Rugby Federation. Second delivery will be leaving w/c 19/7
