Hungary receive LV= SOS Kit Aid's 200th Delivery

LV= SOS Kit Aid made it's 200th kit delivery to Budapest, Hungary recently. We have received the following letter of thanks to commemorate our 200th delivery from Pal Turi the President of the Hungarian Rugby Union:

Budapest, 4th October 2011

Dear Mr. Broadfoot,

On behalf of the Hungarian Rugby Union, can I say just how grateful we in the Hungarian Rugby Union are for all the SOS KIT you and your colleagues have sent to us over the years?

In the beginning, we really struggled to start up new sides – and yet this was, we knew, CRUCIAL to our development. Your work, and that of the other charity organizations, helped us to fill this gap. It was – it is! A great help in spreading rugby to the new cities and towns, across Hungary. Thank you from all of us!!

As far as we know, the last LV= SOS shipment to us was the 200th during your life and like the previous 199 consignments, it has helped developing rugby nations all over the World. CONGRATULATIONS!! We are so proud to receive this "anniversary” delivery.

In Hungary we have already received hundreds of rugby jerseys, shorts, balls, and training kits. HRFU has sent them to youth rugby kids as young as 8, 10 or 14, and the older age groups, such as the seniors and OldBoyz team. Yes, we’re now old enough to have our first "OldBoyz” sides!! Some of the brand new tracksuits went to the Hungarian National Team members, sponsors, coaches and referees and that is the way the HRFU can assess and count the real progress amongst rugby men and women. We have sent back to you some photos showing the smile faces of the kids when they were receiving their new team kits; and it caused a great deal of happiness for everyone.

Every year we get 2-3 shipments with 36 boxes, so it has reached more than 2,000 Hungarian rugby fanatic people. Based on your model, the HRFU itself has now set up our own charity programme, where players can donate their used kit for the youngand thus recirculate the kits. So, we have our own very special thanks for LV = SOS Kit Aid, and do this by promoting you on our www.rugby.hu homepage.

I wish you all in LV = SOS a successful and long working with your team; and we hope we can continue our partnership with you well into the future.

Your sincerely,

Pál Túri, President HRFU

SOS Helping to develop junior rugby in Hungary

"We are excited to the 2010 year regarding the SOS IRB Kit Aid because all the rugby club's players, children had a big suprise in 2009 for the lot of rugby stuff."

Thanks and Kind Regards:

Balazs Bohm

General Secretary HRU

Though SOS only started supplying kit to Hungary some 6 months ago it is already starting to make a difference! SOS recently attended a Youth Festival for 600 children a town about an hour from Budapest. We were greatly impressed at the enthusiasm of the players and the quality of the coaches, referees and of the rugby. Already SOS kit is getting through and pictured are a festival team wearing SOS kit.

Welsh journalist Chris Woods brought a set of junior shirts from Abergavenny RFC and personally presented them to the Tournament winners. Hungarian rugby is obviously going places and SOS will do all it can to help them!
