Duke of Edinburgh's Award
LV= SOS Kit Aid is a fully approved part of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme. To be successful, you will have to demonstrate lots of skills including selling the LV= SOS Kit Aid concept to potential donors and then marketing the project when accepted. You will also need organisational and inter-personal skills to make sure deadlines are met and targets achieved.
Ideas and Aims
You will be expected to sell the project to fellow pupils, staff, family and friends, recruit help where needed and produce a plan to ensure the project is successful and completed on time.
You should organise the kit collections on either a stipulated day or over a period of time on a three, six or twelve month basis, fitting in with Bronze, Silver or Gold project time requirements.
Publicise the project on all school communications and notice boards. Enlist the help of local media (newspapers, radio and television).
Visit the LV= SOS Kit Aid website (www.lvsoskitaid.com) to familiarise yourself with the aims, ideas and achievements of the project and encourage all potential donors to do the same.
You may feel encouraged to look at a long term twinning of your school or club with the recipient in the UK or overseas. This may lead to tours or social and cultural exchanges which will build a stronger community involvement.
You will find more information on how to run an LV= SOS Kit Aid day on this website.
Review and Assessment
You will be judged by the school community project manager on the successful outcome of the project; how it was run and organised; whether all necessary skills were demonstrated and ultimately by how much kit was collected.
